Version 1.1.0
LatestSetup screens and screen timeout
Setup screens that show who a tablet is for and what happens next, a screen timeout set from the configuration, a clearer ownership footer, and fixes for kiosk mode and notices on a sleeping tablet.
Highlights
- ProvisioningThe setup screens show the organization, the tablet's name and support contacts, a checklist of what happens next, and plain-language errors.
- Device policyThe screen timeout now comes from the tablet's configuration.
- KioskKiosk mode locks the tablet even when it is switched on while the screen is off.
Provisioning
- On Android 12 and later, the setup screens show who the tablet is being set up for: the organization's name and logo, the tablet's name, an optional setup label and the organization's support phone and email, all read from the QR code.
- A “What happens next” checklist on the setup screens marks each step: download, connect to the organization, load apps and settings, and restart once when asked.
- Setup errors now say what went wrong and what to do: a setup code that has expired or was already used (ask for a new QR code, then factory reset the tablet), no connection to the server (with a WiFi button), or a wrong clock (with a date and time button).
Home
- The ownership footer is larger and easier to read: one line says who the tablet belongs to, a second says how to reach them if it is found, and it sits at the bottom edge of the screen. Phone numbers and email addresses no longer break across lines, and the lock and readiness screens use the same two lines.
Kiosk
- Kiosk mode now locks the tablet even when it is switched on while the screen is off or another app is in front. The tablet locks without waking the screen, so the next person to wake it finds the kiosk app locked.
- Switching kiosk mode back on after switching it off now takes effect straight away. Before, the second switch could be missed.
Notices
- A notice that arrives while the screen is off or locked now waits until someone unlocks the tablet. Only then is it shown and marked as seen, and only then does its auto-hide timer start. A notice that expires before anyone is there is never shown.
- The notice banner now sits below the status bar instead of covering it and the top of the home screen, and notice buttons have proper padding and a larger touch area.
Device policy
- The launcher applies the screen timeout set in the tablet's configuration and locks that setting on the tablet. When a configuration stops managing the timeout, the setting is unlocked and the tablet keeps its last value.
